Rick Smith studied engineering throughout college. He knew that this would be a good field and something that was profitable but it was something that he quickly tired of. He started a computer database company while still in high school. At Harvard University, he studied English and literature. In 1991, he founded People Doing Things (PDT). The Company sought to address issues relating to health care and education through the use of technology. Pulier was in charge of building a network that sought to bring together children with chronic illness. He sold the latest at 350 million dollars. He has also ventured into the nightclub industry and owns a restaurant in Santa Monica.
